  7. Why are Shipping Papers not required for UN3082 and UN3077 (Environmentally Hazardous Substances)?
    IATA Environmentally Hazardous Substances
UN3082 and UN3077 (Environmentally Hazardous Substances) both have Special Provision A197 (Section 4.4 in the IATA Regulation). This allows an exception from the Regulations when shipping 5 kg/L or less per single package or per inner receptacle in a combination packaging. If the material meets the definition of Hazardous Substance/RQ under 49-CFR, the exception does not apply when shipping to/from/within the United States. This can be switched on or off in Haz-Shipper by clicking on the Special Provision button on the final screen of your shipment.

    CFR/IMDG Marine Pollutant
When shipping 5 kg/L or less of a Marine Pollutant per single package or per inner receptacle in a combination packaging by vessel, the package is excepted from the Marine Pollutant marking and from the Marine Pollutant description on the shipping papers (49-CFR 171.4(c), IMDG 2.10.2.7). If the material meets the definition of Hazardous Substance/RQ under 49-CFR, the exception does not apply when shipping to/from/within the United States. This exception can be activated in Haz-Shipper by clicking the check box next to “Use marine pollutant exception” under “Maintenance” “Company” “Defaults”.
